The Sounds of Silence
It makes no noise at all,

The Great White North
Our family had a fun time in our winter wonderland this past weekend.
Our family farm was planted with several hundred small pine trees when we bought it well...
They are not so little anymore.
The past couple of years we have cut down one of our trees to be our special tree for Christmas
This year we harvested two, one for us and one for a good friend.
Now this isn't a small trick
getting to the Pine tree row is about 1/4 mile from the main barn and with 3 feet of snow it is a little tricky
So out comes the snowmobile and the tree cutting team
My cowboy, DD and her BFF
We all go up the hill, taking turns on the snowmobile
Once we are up there I jump off the snowmobile and promptly become a snow statue, the snow was so deep I couldn't move. So walking the entire line of trees seemed a little crazy so we found the ones we wanted within several feet and many falls. My friend Cynthia posing with her tree, I think she should apply for a job at "The Price Is Right":)
Time to cut her down..(oh no, not Cynthia, the tree)
Of course "Blue" had to get into the action
Load it up
Away we go...my daughter trying to scare her mother to death on the snowmobile.
Take it home and decorate, decorate, decorate.
The result has put us all in FULL Christmas mode.
I hope you are enjoying all your Christmas experiences during this special time
Enjoy!

Everything is Relative
A Tribute
They have been our faithful servants, our tireless comrades,
and our loyal friends.
giving us their all...
speed endurance power...
A gentle grace.
and flawless beauty
their unwavering trust.
their heart.
Godspeed to the 49 noble horses and 2 men
that lost their lives this
past weekend...
May their wild spirit
burn bright...
....and may they always
have green pastures.
Thank you to Linda at http://coconutsandlimes.blogspot.com/ for letting me use her beautiful words from a past tragedy when the polo ponies in Florida were lost.
On a much less serious note we are taking off our cowboy boots
and soon will be heading home soon .
We didn't make the semi-finals so back in the car we go,
heading home to Christmas and snow.

A Week of Hopes and Dreams, Butterflies and Bling
A magical relationship.
We are dreamers
we savor the time we spend with our horses
be it in the show ring, feeding, grooming or helping with the miracle of birth
each moment is special !
This week our dreams are BIG!
Today my cowboy goes into the show ring
to compete with 800 plus other cowboys and cowgirls.
A day that many of our hopes and dreams are built upon
The horse he is riding is one that was bred, born and rasied on our farm.
She is a 3 year old that has never been shown before
which is one of the requirments of this show.
The NCHA Cutting Horse Futurity has a purse of 3,000,000.
NO PRESSURE, yeah right
Today my husband will show around 3:00 and in 2 1/2 minutes we will know if he continues the dance in the next round.
I HAVE BUTTERFLIES swirling around in my stomach, sometimes I think it is easier to show than watch the ones we love...
