Daisy May is here to STAY!

As we approach the Memorial Day weekend I am thankful for so much .
First I am so thankful for our freedom and those that have and do fight for that right. I had the honor of visiting the tomb of the unknown solider, while there we had the privilege of visiting the barracks of those that protect the tomb.
Honor,
dedication
and tradition live there

Closer to home I am very Thankful for a little girl named Daisy May that had the fight of her life while she was only hours old.

The three days before her birth her Mother was leaking milk which meant she was losing the precious colostrum that every foal needs for a healthy start.
When the mare finally foaled she had a very difficult delivery due to the foal being so big, a little help was needed, so far so good. The foal then showed signs of great discomfort.

After administering pain medication we pulled blood to determine our next step. Due to the fact that the mare had lost so much colostrum we decided to boost the foal's immunity with a plasma transfusion.
Things went well and Daisy May is here to STAY!

Of course Daisy May's big sisters

Lila Rose

and Dirty Little Trick

are looking forward to day when Daisy May can come out and play.
Thank you for visiting and please enjoy this holiday weekend.

Whew!

Glad to hear everything is better!! She's beautiful!

Now for us horse-impaired people (is that politically correct?) can you please explain what that green thing is around her neck? Is that the bandage for when ya'll drew blood or where she took her transfusion???

signed foally unfamiliar ;)

I'm so glad she's OK. What a time for her and mommy. I've got to tell you, that face on her sister, Dirty Little Trick (what do call her? Surely not that big name.) - anyway, that is one of the cutest little faces I've ever seen! Something about it just goes straight to my heart!

What a blessing that the little one pulled through. I hate to see any animal suffer or be in any pain so I'm glad she is on the mend. I love the name, I once had a big old red Dodge Dart I named Daisy Mae. The name has CLASS!

Have a great Holiday Weekend Kelly and God Bless!
