Thanksgiving

The most tangible of all visible mysteries - fire. ~Leigh Hunt

It has a different meaning for everyone.

We all have special memories, often they are memories from childhood,or when our children were small.

The excitement of children add the magic to this holiday.

So-much-to-be-thankful-for

I barely remember how I cooked the turkey from year to year but I do remember special times with family and can see in my minds eye how we have all changed over the years it is almost like a snapshot of each year.

I think it is different from Christmas due to the absence of tangible gifts. This is a holiday that we give from the heart, we have to think of all we are thankful for in the past year.

I look forward to next Thursday when we get together with those we have known all our lives and those that are new to our lives.

Autumn-Doves

Today I start the preparation to welcome our guests, I enjoy setting the tables, planning the meal and being reminded of all I have to be thankful.

and light the candles

Over the years I have "chilled" about the holidays and have learned to concentrate the important things, I must admit I need to remind myself of that several times this week but it does make it more enjoyable.

Thankful for Golden Sunsets

I know this can be an extra stressful time of year but I find that the most pressure is usually self imposed. Look to your family and friends I know they are more than happy to help...we don't have to be "Super Woman" on Thursday just Mothers, Daughters, Granddaughters, Sisters, Grandmothers, Aunts, Nieces and Friends.

Enjoy!

A Legend in PINK

A "rose among roses"
"A candle in the wind"
Norma Jean.

A legend of our time,
what makes her so fascinating???

Some might say it was her beauty,
yes, she was beautiful but I think it is her
innocence and hope that shine in her photographs
that captures our hearts.

A Legend in Pink

I celebrate PINK SATURDAY with a series of digital collages of Marilyn Monroe.

I blended her famous image with flowers from my garden.

Learning a New Language

Lady-Autumn

I am terrible about learning new languages, in fact I think it almost impossible,

maybe because I think I should be fluent in "said" language in about a week

I tend to be a little impatient, Ya Think???

Well I have been working on a new language for about 2 years and finally it is starting to "click"

The language of which I speak is PHOTOSHOP

Oh I so wanted to be able to manipulate all my photos but, I just couldn't get the "language" down, my first year of photoshop is equivalent to asking to use the bathroom and when translated into a new language it means "your mother has a moustache".

It was pitiful!
Well I think I am starting to "get it" I think I am starting to "speak" broken photoshop.

Finally I can use the bathroom without getting thrown out of the restaurant.

Change-of-Colors

Watercolor leaves

I have been practicing my "photoshop" language using several pictures I have taken in the last weeks of autumn and blending them with vintage photographs of women.

I have a fascination with vintage photos of ladies of the past.

The results aren't perfect but they make me happy.

True Beauty

Youthful Beauty...it is so valued

is it because we don't have wrinkles?

our hair has vibrant color?

our knees don't have expressions of their own ?

and our arms don't wave back when we wave goodbye?

Colorful-Leaves

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!

I'm not buying it, don't get me wrong...

I did take out a trial subscription to such thinking

I took a short mourning period for body parts that once were gravity defiant.

Fading-Fern

I was given a gift of knowing both of my grandmothers well into their 90's

They taught me lessons about beauty but I was unaware at the time .

On several occasions I heard the complaints similar to the ones above and

I always thought...

NO NO NO How can you think that Grandma?

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!

I didn't know your youthful beauty but...

I do know that when you smile at me your eyes crinkle and wrinkle and they are the most

BEAUTIFUL EYES that have ever looked my way.

Fragile

when you take my hand it feels like crepe paper and it is decorated with funny dots,

the most Beautiful hands I have ever held.

Still-A-Beauty

So as the winter approaches the youthful beauty of the landscape has faded and now replaced

with fragile beauties that are still as beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than ever,

the showy colors of their youth are gone but they have character.

Nature has a plan
Winter-Kale

don't try to change it

Kale-Gone-Drazy
it just doesn't work.

Enjoy your beautiful self, just the way you are.

(OK a little blush and mascara doesn't hurt)

Enjoy!
