Slow Down We Move Too FAST!

Sometimes we don't have a choice...sometimes the choice to slow down is made for you.
Guilty as charged!
Burning the candle at both ends works for a while...then as we know no fire is left.
And I have found if I don't blow out one end myself,
my body will have to take that responsibility.

Well my body has demanded a hiatus, if I want to or not.
Last week I was fighting it kicking and screaming but I have surrendered.
I will let my body recover from whatever "bug" I have and I will do so quietly.

I need remind myself to live my favorite
quote that I have stenciled in my kitchen:

Summer-Ice-Tea

"Please tell me about your busy day.

Though our time is short, we've much to say .

Forget the things to do and places to be.

Let's sit and chat over a cup of tea."

Author Unknown

So please sit and take a sip of tea, relax and enjoy!

Slow down...I know it is easier said than done, just a gentle reminder.

Have a wonderful weekend and as always THANKS FOR VISITING!

sign I'm feeling MUCH BETTER!

The fog of not feeling well is lifting.

Emerge Tiny Geranium Bud

Beautiful Flying Horses

The horse world sometimes is so divided...

Soar

All horses are beautiful beasts.

It doesn't matter to me if you ride

Listen
Dressage Barrel Horses Cutting Horses Hunters Jumpers Roping Horses

3 Day Event Pleasure English Western Bareback Trail Reiners Halter Horses Team Penners

In the horse world these are called "disciplines" and for some reason some feel one discipline is more important, prestigious, or just plain better.

Well I say "Let's All Grow Up"
We all love horses so that makes us sisters and let's appreciate what we all do, care and love these magnificent, beautiful, wondrous, beasts.

Take-off

This weekend I had the opportunity to watch in AWE a discipline that I do not participate in.

THE GRAND PRIX .

Landing
The" Jumping Elite" they jump the highest fences known to horses and they are showing to qualify for the most elite Equine Events, such as the Olympics.

Hair-Aflyin
Even if I don't understand all the technicalities of this discipline that doesn't change the beauty of these unbelievable athletes.

The-Smile

LOOK AT THAT SMILE

looks like things are going well!

Reach
48-Seconds

This event is part of Horse Shows By the Bay,

a 4 Week Show in Traverse City Michigan, WOW the facility FlintFields are just beautiful!!!

Horse-Show-By-the-Bay

Oh I forgot one discipline "Lead Line"
this is the class that the "little" equestrians participate in, yes there is an age requirement, 6 and under.

They-Start-Young

Good-Pony

See-it-is-like-this

OH MY!

They Start EARLY and can't you just tell all the attitude these little ones have.

Taking-the-Short-Cut
Let's finish showing you the winner.

This girl took a few "shortcuts" on the course which is risky but...

The-Finish-Line IT PAID OFF!

I just love the expression of the spectator upper left corner!

The-winner
Congratulations!!!!

Now it's time for me to get back to my Cutting Horses.

Horsin Around

We have so many personalities on our farm, today I am talking about the equine personalities(we have other kinds too, another day, another post) .

Good-Horse

I am always amazed when people ask "can you tell the horses apart?"

Slicky-and-Doc

Now this might be a little obvious but each one is so different than the other

These two, "Doc" and "Slicky" are the best of friends
"Doc" is the gentle giant and lives life in the slow lane
"Slicky" is approaching the slow lane in life
he is 23 years old, my husbands first "cutting horse"
"Slicky" is serving out his senior years as a model citizen by helping
out with the Junior High Equestrian Team, which I am proud to say is
coached by our Farm Manager, Jona.

Each horse has a story to tell

I like some of the horses more than others

Some are nicer than others

They would love to visit with you for a moment and you will see how different they are and why they bring so much joy into my life.

Mega-Haida

"Mega Haida"
He is 8 years old
He is a gentleman
He is the type of guy you would want your daughter to date

Black-Tie

"Black Tie Levis"
4 Year old gelding
A wonderful riding horse
A bit of a "bully" when it comes to "playing with others"

Beautiful-Cash-Moria
"Cash Moria"
The "Movie Star" of the farm
A very successful "cutting horse"
Tougher than nails
Very aloof but she has earned the right

I-See--You "Phantom Levis"
A 3 year old gelding impersonating "The Phantom of the Opera"
Very easy to ride and get along with
He just wants to please

Hello-Daisy-May
"Daisy May" and Mom
This little girl is growing up so fast
I have yet to really get to know her but you
can tell she is pretty impressed with herself
Don't worry about Mom-she has a fly mask on to keep those pesky flys away

Dancing-Horses

Photoshop and I had a little fun with "Black Tie" and "Mega"

Thanks for visiting we always appreciate you stopping by.

The Language of Flowers

Tarnished-Teapot
By now you possibly are getting a bit tired of my "love affair" with flowers captured by my camera.

Oh please be kind... the bouquet above is telling you something...?
But you MUST read on

I must admit this flower obsession started years ago with a "girl crush" yes it's true.

This "girl crush" was so serious I stood in line for almost 5 hours to meet the girl of my garden dreams.

This is what my garden girl wrote to me...

Of course others were in "crush" with...

you guessed it, Martha

Look at this young Martha, I wonder if she knew all that lie before her. I since have fallen out of "crush" with Martha although I still am a fan but sometimes overwhelmed with the over the top marketing of "Martha".

But Martha did get me started learning about and loving gardens.

THANK YOU MARTHA !

Now you didn't think you could get away without more pictures of my flowers, fat chance.

I do have more pictures but I thought I would add a little "Victorian" touch to them.

During the Victorian era flowers were for more than decoration.
Each flower carried an assigned meaning which was commonly understood to the recipient.

Red-Red-Rose

A Red Rose says "Pure and Lovely"

and a single red rose says "I Love you" or "I Love You Still"

Wild-Pink-Poppy
The Poppy says "Pleasure"

Wild-Lupine

Lupine is the symbol for Imagination

Daisy-Field
The Sweet Daisy speaks of Innocence, Loyal Love or "I'll never tell".

White-Astilbe

Astilbe say "I'll still be waiting"

Queen-Lily

The Yellow Lily implies "I'm walking on air"

So my tarnished teapot bouquet says to you...

"I'll still be waiting while I'm walking on air"

Waiting for what I'm not sure perhaps a short comment to say "hi"

Thank you so much for visiting...

Off to research the "thank you" flower!
