Happiness Taken for Granted

I have just returned from visiting A Fanciful Twist and Vanessa's Blog. She weaves a wonderful story about dreams and happiness. A question posed "what makes you happy" ? Happiness is all around us but we must recognize it. I have been guilty of taking happiness for granted lately. I had to be reminded in a harsh manner that happiness is not to be expected but appreciated and honored. This is a story I had not intended to share. This time of year is always very busy for me with delivering foals and taking care of their and the mares needs both before and after the miracle of birth. I have been doing this for 20 years and perhaps became somewhat callused to the process. So I have been given a "wake up and smell the coffee" moment. The last 2 weeks have brought 3 foals into the world. The first birth of the season brought great heartache when the foal died after a full term pregnancy, a first for me ever. I have always been able to sustain life in a questionable situation. Details aren't needed but it has taught me that happiness is everywhere even if we have grown accustomed to the landscape. So I have celebrated with great happiness the arrival of 2 life filled foals with a renewed sense of awe. So enjoy every happiness even if it is a familiar happiness. I am happy to have you meet our 2 latest additions.

Thanks Vanessa for your story and gentle reminder that we do control our own happiness.

Enjoy!

It's Party Time-Tweet Tweet!

This is my first online party-and I am having so much fun! First thank you to Karla and Beth for hosting ( I love their style) .I have taken a sneak peek at a few of the houses and they are WONDERFUL! Not only are the houses great but the people behind them are impressive. Have a cup of tea and enjoy the party.

I tend to think BIG so goes the bird house. I mosaiced most of it and then shingled it with wrapping paper glued to card stock, cut them up and WA-LA a roof (I was thinking I was crazy for such an idea about half way thru). Over the course of this creation I have grown rather attached so it will stay with me, my little house with in my house. BUT-I am giving away a mini version at the end of April to one of you visiting, just leave a comment and I will post the winner on April 30.

I put together this little collage to show the features of this birdie home. I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment, I would love to meet you.

A Quiet Easter

Easter day in winding down, it has been very quiet. I recollect on many Easters of my life and am thankful for each and every one of them. To my family...Wish You Were Here, but I know I will see everyone soon. I finished my Easter Garden Fairy to say Happy Easter to everyone.

I Loved Being Part of the Queen Tea Swap

The mosaic teacup that I sent Amy definitely fits the expression "do as I say not as I do", I am still working towards the tranquility goal but I find it might be harder said than done, they say "half the fun is getting there" and I am having fun.! The Queen Tea Swap was a great experience! Meeting lots of people with LOTS of ideas. I am so impressed when given one project everyone makes a individual masterpiece. A special thank you to Teresa McFayden at Bellatoria for coordinating every thing.

I hope everyone has a lovely and safe Easter.

Enjoy,

Queen of Tranquil-itea I'm not

My first swap...what fun ,so I plan, make and send, how simple is that? Well I think my making took a little longer than planned so when I realized I needed to get my tea goodies in the mail today any tranquility I had planned for the day went out the window. O.K. this is not something new, I get so wrapped up in my projects time flys, that means I am having fun (but the dishes aren't doing themselves). I finished just under the wire and off the post office to send out my creations. When I returned to my tea-light I found a Tea Package waiting for me on my front porch. Yea, it was like Christmas on St. Paddy's Day. Amy at The Shape of Waiting sent me all sorts of tea goodies and a "tea for one" set , I collect such sets. How did she know? I think her planning went better than mine due to her package arriving early. Thank you Amy I will think of you every time I sip my new cherry almond and wedding blend teas. I just love making new friends in the blog world. Happy St. Patricks Day to all.

I'm Back

I went to Oprah and thoroughly enjoyed it. The studio looked very different from seeing it on T.V.. The topic was the THE BIG GIVE Oprah's new show about generously helping others. It made me think how I can give back...I do help with causes in the traditional way but I want to do something unique and exciting to give back. What is it...I don't know, but I do know that the idea has been planted in my brain and it will "hit" me when it is time. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear from you. You might be hearing more about this at a later date. Now I am jumping into to my creating process once again and hope to share them with you soon.

Off to Oprah

For the last fifteen years I have wanted to go to an Oprah Show and finally I am going. Oprah is about the only thing that would keep me from the new creating jag that I am on. I am working on my new website, getting my feet wet in this blogging world and trying to explore all the ideas running around in my head. Thanks to so many of you and your very creative and inspiring websites and/or blogs. I am looking forward to Oprah but I am also looking forward to getting back to my teacups and ponies. Our first foal is due tomorrow but it looks like mom is hanging on so I can make my trip and be home in time for the new addition. What a week, Oprah, teacups and new baby ponies, who could ask for more?

Have a great weekend!

O.K. I'm Jumping In

I am now in the blog world, oh my! I am not sure what to do or what to say but I have followed several blogs in the arts and crafts world for a few weeks and it seems like a wonderful community. I am participating in the E-Zine at Bellatoria this month. Again not sure what I am doing but sounds like lots of fun. I look forward to meeting those that share the crazy passion of creating. What an adventure!

WHY TEACUPS AND PONIES?

Have you ever heard a tea party for ponies? I haven't either but it does cast a rather amusing visual. The real story behind teacups and ponies is my passion for both. Actually the teacups are my muse when I am doing my mosaic work and the ponies are really Cutting Horses (more on that later) that my family raises. I am fortunate to be in charge of the "baby side" of our operation. Each spring we expect several new foals and I guess I would be known as a Horse Mid-wife. I am there for each birth to welcome a new little miracle into the world. Each and every time I am amazed when a foal stands shortly after being born and the search for mommy and her groceries. I hope to share the joy that both mosaics and horses give me. Welcome to my world.
