Playing Dress Up with Primroses on Tablescape Thursday

I love Primroses they say spring to me like no other flower. I was thrilled to find them at the local Lowes, I brought them home thinking I would fill a basket with the primroses but everything I tried didn't do them justice. Then a thought...let's play dress up.

The black plastic and peat moss pots left a little to be desired so...

I pulled out some cheery fabric, a glue stick and dressed up the pots and finished them off with black and white ribbon. So simple!

These little guys have been the center of my tablescapes all week.

AND everyday I am rewarded with more flowers!

Thanks for joining me on this Tablescape Thursday, please stop by to see our generous hostess, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to visit all the TT bloggers, you will see some of the most beautiful tablescapes ever.

A Swap Story

During the recent Gypsy Mermaid's Pink and Green Swap I was partnered with Jodie of Everything Vintage. I have posted all the wonderful Pink and Green she sent me and today I thought I would share with you the little Pink and Green I sent Jodie.
For me a swap is a lot like a story unfolding before my eyes and hands. A theme is chosen and then I start thinking, thinking and thinking how I can make this swap special for the partner I am given.

Chapter One-The Gathering

I gather lots of my supplies so they can all get to know one another and see how they might fit together.

A little bit of this and a little bit that and it starts to come together. Embellishments show their possibilities first. A special creation "The Bird Lady" by Vanessa Valencia of A Fanciful Twist gathers, pearls, a vintage ribbon from my Grandmother's sewing basket finishing with swinging skirt of green leaves.

Then this little cutie also one of Vanessa's creations gathers her favorite pink and green trims finishing off her look with a ruffled pink skirt. The message she carries to my partner is

"Fairly Tale Dreams Can Happen to You"

Chapter Two-Creating

Now it is time to put some of the other embellishments together to bring new ideas to life.

This balsa box purse has been lonely in my crafts room for the past year or so, upon hearing of the swap it volunteered with pretty pink and green paper and ribbon roses. She didn't start out pink and green but now she wears it with style.

My cameos are always part of my swap stories so a couple paired up with a couple of vintage spoons, butterflies and roses to transform into La Petite Teaspoons, fit for Marie Antoinette herself.

One of my all time favorite things is a beautiful Chandelier.

A chandelier crystal makes a perfect necklace.

A Plain Jane canvas bag is calling my name wanting attention. I am not sure how she fits into this story so I just wait and before long a Cinderella turns in the Pink and Green Princess it happened magically unfolding before my eyes.

Chapter Three-Leaving Home

Now all my creations need to test their new wings and fly to their new home. Oh will they be okay without me? I make a special box for everyone to snuggle on their trip.

I asked a special friend to guide them on their way.

They made it safely and love their new home. I now can breath a sigh of relief knowing they live with Jodie, my new friend, and they lived happily every after.

The End!

Our wonderful niece Alexis is celebrating her birthday today.

This girl has so much style, a wonderful sense of humor and is drop dead gorgeous. Now I ask you what do you get a girl like that?

Well one thing I know for sure is a girl can NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SHOES!

So I made this bracelet with Alexis in mind, I hope see likes it.

Happy Birthday Miss Alexis!

Lila Rose Takes Off Her Coat

Finally it is warm enough for Lila Rose to run around bare naked! She has put her baby coat away and now is just hanging out like a "big horse". She just wanted to stop by to say "Neighaaaaaa"(translation hello in horse) and to let you know she has a new brother or sister arriving any day and she is looking forward to introducing you to the new arrival.

PINK and GREEN 100th CELEBRATION

A celebration of Pink and Green!

I received my swap package for the Pink and Green Swap hosted by Sarah at Gypsy Mermaid. Sent by Jodie at Everything Vintage and I think I am dreaming, it is a sensory overload.

I opened my box with great anticipation and before I see...I smell...my favorite scent, lavender. Oh the calming effect of lavender is lovely and it was a good thing because I was so excited to open all these wonderfully wrapped packages. Now I have an awful confession to make, I opened my goodies before I photographed anything...I couldn't stand it, I was like a kid at Christmas.

I think maybe Jodie thought it was the Pamper Swap because everything was is so indulgent, everything is so me, she played to all my favorite passions, how did she know?

It started with the teacup that I so admired on her blog. It is beautiful and now it lives with me. It will be displayed in a special place and remind me of a start of a great friendship. I promise I won't break it to use for mosaics.
To top off the teacup a tin of Green Jasmine Tea(YUMMMY) wrapped in a beautiful crocheted green doily fringed with beads. OH MY!

Then appeared three vintage fabric bags made by Jodie and stuffed with wonderful things! They are so beautiful! These would be lovely to wrap gifts but...no such luck friends, I'm NOT parting with them.

The wonderful Lavender Oil, a Novel, Posies and so many pink and green embellishments galore!

Then the most amazing box, all crackled in green tied with a pink tulle bow and my initials on it. Tucked beside it a wonderful note, from above, secured with a beautiful vintage pin.

Vintage Tags with vintage women and horses WOW how does she do that.

Then a beautiful tag with a beaded cross attached, so thoughtful!

At the very bottom of the box a bundle of beautiful papers tied with a pink bow.
Now don't blink because...

they have patterns on both sides. I didn't even know such things existed (I need to get out more).

Now I have a little secret this is my 100th post. I have been thinking about how to make it special but nothing came to me...well it did literally all wrapped in green and pink. Thank you Jodie for making it so special. My blog has brought more things into my life than I could ever could have imagined 99 posts ago.

Now you must excuse me...I am going to hang my lavender sachet on the bathroom door and

indulge in a lavender bath with the most intriguing bath sponge (see I need to get off the farm more) snuggle up with my new novel and a cup of jasmine tea.

I have been smiling all day and I think my smiles will last for a long, long time every time I see one of the many beautiful, thoughtful pink and green gifts from my new friend Jodie.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Once Upon a Bread Box

Many of us can remember the ever present Bread Box on the kitchen counter. Every kitchen of yesteryear had one to store baked goodies. I can remember visiting my grandparents and running to open the bread box to discover what yummies were hiding there. My grandparents had a sweet tooth so usually there were more cookies than bread but that suited me just fine.

Where did the bread box go??? I am sure it went the way of the milk box on the front porch and the Charles Chips man delivering potato chips. My, I am dating myself.

I spied a bread box at a recent sale and was instantly drawn to it, it sat there all alone passed by everyone but me. It certainly had seen better days but I knew some of my fondest memories were triggered by this beat up, rusty box. Now you can only imagine the reactions I got when I brought it home, yes they thought I was crazy and what ever was I going to do with such a thing.

Well I didn't have a clue but I just had to bring it home. It sat in the garage for several months just waiting for it's new life. Yesterday it was brought to life once again, I threw together some wallpaper, buttons and ribbons and now it has a new home in my kitchen. I know we are not going to make it in Architectural Digest but I am pretty happy with it.

I can only imagine the stories it could tell. Once a shiny brand new bread box that I am sure was proudly displayed on a kitchen counter...fast forward 50 years or so and once again it is proudly displayed in my kitchen.

I Have A Fever!

A Pink and Green Fever !

All the result of the Gypsy Mermaids Pink and Green Swap.

It's time to send all the Pink and Green goodies to Some Bunny at Everything Vintage.

A little birdie told me she would fly (with butterfly helpers) the Pink and Green Goodies to Jodie and I would be cured.

I can't wait for Lady Birdie Johnson to arrive at Jodies and deliver her package. I have had so much fun creating, playing and getting know to Jodie and her very fun sense of humor.

I am sure I will once again be infected when I open my goodie package. I have seen glimpses of what is coming my way and I can't wait!

I will be stalking my post office delivery person for the next couple of days, usually I would rather not get the mail but this week will be different.

Oh the anticipation...

Good things come to those that wait

Until then
