Treasure Hunt Completed!

Oh My! What did I think I would find? I imagined seashell crowns, estate sales of the rich and famous (I was close to Palm Beach) that had give away prices. Well reality set in and I found my mission was to help my darling daughter change her new home from early frat house to early adulthood home.

Mission Possible??? Here was my mission and I DID accept it:

1. Decorate on the budget of the financially challenged-she is a student.

Great Pics from Bed Bath and Beyond $7.99 each

LOVE these! Straight from Home Goods $12.99 each

A Little Dress Up for the Kitchen
Pier One $2.00 each
I attached them using 3-M Command Strips
They are great especially for renters
they don't even leave a tiny mark

2. Convince her and especially her finance that things don't HAVE to be functional to be in a house.
Maybe pretty is okay.

He (or she) is just so CUTE !

Shell Lamp (functional yes) from TJ Maxx

and Mosaic table from Home Goods

Goodies from Home Goods and Pier One

It's amazing how much better they look when you get them home

Fishies (everyone made fun of this purchase) that fit

perfectly on top of the cabinets

3. Paint is our friend and does work wonders!

Patio chairs from Grandma Abbey
they were a little rusty but now
after spray painting sideways and upside down

(my muscles will never be the same)

new cushions from Home Depot
They look brand new!

Drab brown lamps given a new Florida life
with just a little paint from Michaels

4. Convince me that guitars and amplifiers are part of the living room decor.
NOT even going there-Love you Tommy!

5. AND if you buy plants you do NEED to water them.

Oh I wish I could grow these in Michigan

If you water these they will bloom and the scent is heavenly

O.K. we cheated a little
silk flowers from Pier One
but I just wanted to make sure we had "back-up" to the watering situation
(just kidding Kait)
I Hope!
Love you too Kait!

The yard is a little small for a grapefruit tree
so a watering free painting

6. Mother Nature is the BEST decorator of all!

And she even provided dinner!

Thank you much for visiting and indulging me.

As you can see I am on a Florida jag so check back

and find out what Florida gem will be my June Giveaway.

Enjoy!

Kelley

I want to move in! Looks beautiful, inviting and definately lost the frat house look. Glad you all had fun and could share the beginnings of a new life together.

Hi, Kelley,

I was lucky enough to receive one of your pretty ladies panels in the Birds and Bonnets swap (Cloud/Sky!) It's gorgeous and I'm delighted they happened to put your panel on the set I received!

I'm from Michigan, too (Lansing). I'm thoroughly enjoying your website -- especially this post with your great decorating finds! I look forward to returning and checking out your website, too!
